I had such a fun afternoon with this family on a very windy October day. We had planned to meet in Richmond Park for our photoshoot, but due to high winds it had been closed for the day. The family still wanted to go ahead despite the wind, so we diverted to Wimbledon Common instead and had a fabulous afternoon trying to catch falling leaves, climbing trees, running down hills, and flying kites. The perfect outdoor family photoshoot!
My brief was for everyone to just have fun, enjoy each others' company, and try not to look at the camera ... we wanted to make sure we captured those genuine giggles and cuddles rather than capturing the fake smiles that children so often adopt.
For me, a family photoshoot should be about capturing your personalities and the connections you have as a family - if that means muddy knees and ripped tights by the end of a session, then I think that's brilliant. This family really brought the energy and fun, and everyone got stuck in. I think that shows in the final photos, which tell a story of a lovely family just having a good time together outdoors.
I'm so grateful that they trusted me to capture these moments for them.
